Ronald McDonald House & McDonald’s of Hawaii
McDonald’s of Hawaii has been a longtime supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Hawaii (RMHC-HI) and its mission since we opened our first House in 1987. We are, however, a private non-profit organization and we continue to fundraise in the community to support our many efforts. RMHC-HI is the community’s charity, not a corporate foundation.
Nationally, the partnership between McDonald’s Corporation and Ronald McDonald House Charities and its programs dates back to the inception of the charitable organization in Philadelphia.
It started with an unlikely partnership between an NFL team, a children’s hospital, and McDonald’s. This collaboration resulted in the creation of the first home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill children in 1973.
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Hawaii benefits from in-store collection box fundraising and other promotions, volunteering by McDonald’s employees and raising awareness of the Charity’s mission.
Ronald McDonald, a trusted friend to children across the Globe, who represents happiness, fun and a positive outlook on life is the namesake of the Charity because within the walls of RMHC core programs is a safe haven filled with hope and love.
